After the fascinating jungle tour, we hopped back on the shuttle to head over to the canopy part of the tour. We got there and got all strapped in to start our zip-lining adventure! We ended up being in a really fun group of about 12-15 people. There were a couple of really entertaining people that would scream or yell. I maybe screamed a couple of times, and yes… Ross let out a little (BIG) shriek on the “Tarzan swing!”
"This tour is the most adrenaline filled activity in Monteverde. This exciting adventure consists of traversing from treetop to treetop with specialized climbing equipment over a horizontal cable that is connected between the treetops of the cloud forest. On each tree there is a platform on which you make stops to enjoy the scenery of the forest canopy.
The canopy tour offers 14 zip lines, (up to 1,960 ft long and 260 feet above ground). Also a rappel, two swinging bridges, and the famous Tarzan Swing which is an incredible adventure.”
The Tarzan Swing. Basically, you climb up stairs to get to a platform that you jump off of (or get pushed, in my case) and then go flying through the air. At first, you literally go
straight down (it feels as if you are going to hit the ground) and then swing out on the rope like a monkey! “Securely attached by mountain climbing ropes to your harness, you have to get up the nerve to fall off the tower (scary) and then you swing out over 100 feet. Once you have experienced it you will want to go again for sure.” I asked (somewhat demanded) that Ross went first so I could “take pictures,” but really I was pretty terrified!!! He was sweet enough to go first, and after watching Ross, I was really scared! We both decided it was one of the most thrilling feelings we’ve ever experienced!!!
The Superman Zip Line. The superman cable allows you to feel like a bird while you soar over the mountains and pasture land. The guides tell you to just put your arms and legs out and trust the guy on the other side to stop you. It is a 1 kilometer cable with a height of 180 meters. We experienced a unique sensation on one of the best Monteverde cables and felt just like superman! Ross got to accomplish one of his many dreams… to be able to fly (well, almost)!!! It was an overall amazing experience for both Ross and I!!!
